The trade scales. The work around it does not.

Every timber trader hits the same wall. The business grows to more countries, more suppliers, more volume, and the operational load grows right alongside it. Not because trading itself gets harder, but because of everything around it: the price checks, the status updates, the certificates, the stock reconciliations, the 'let me get back to you' while someone digs through a dozen systems for one answer.

That work has to happen, but it does not scale. It runs through a small group of people, a pile of spreadsheets, and a permanently full inbox. Add volume, and the queue gets longer. Add a country, and you add headcount. The team becomes the bottleneck, and the cost of growing rises as fast as the revenue from it.

There is a deeper problem underneath. The intelligence that runs a trading desk, the pricing logic, the supplier history, the freight know-how, lives in people's heads, not in systems. One person knows how a price is built, another knows a supplier's quirks, and when they are out, the desk slows down. The knowledge that makes the business work is also its biggest single point of failure.

A layer across what you already run

This is the problem we built the Trading Brain to solve. It is an AI layer that sits across the systems your desk already runs on, connecting them and handling the routine work between them. It does not replace your ERP and it does not ask your team to learn a new tool. It works inside Teams, Slack, and email, where the work already happens.

It runs in two modes that complement each other:

  • A chat interface, grounded in your real data. Someone asks a question in plain language, 'what is our stock position for 22x100 in Germany?', and the answer comes back in seconds, across every warehouse, with a flag if something is below target and a one-tap option to act on it.
  • A background agent that works proactively, without being asked. It monitors stock, prices, shipments, and demand; detects the overstocks, the price moves, and the missed volumes; acts by sending follow-ups, drafting communications, and triggering workflows; and escalates to the right person only when a human decision is genuinely needed.

What that looks like in practice

It shows up in the small moments first. Take our sales team, who spend much of their week on the road visiting customers. One of them is between appointments when a buyer calls asking for a price on three trucks delivered to the Netherlands. Instead of pulling over to email the office and waiting for a response, he opens Teams on his phone and asks the Brain. Within moments he has the landed cost and lead time, and once the customer approves, the purchase order is drafted automatically, all before he is back on the motorway. The same goes for the questions that used to land on the desk all week: 'has my order shipped?', a missing certificate, materials availability. Most never reach a person now.

Across the wider operation the pattern repeats. The month-long ritual of consolidating stock and chasing committed volumes across countries becomes an automated cycle. When supply is tight, the Brain proposes an allocation split weighted by margin, retention, and urgency, with the reasoning shown and approved in one click. Freight quotes that took days get collected, ranked, and turned into a draft booking in minutes. ISPM-15 certificates are read straight from supplier PDFs, validated, linked to the order, and archived audit-ready, with only genuine exceptions flagged for a human.

What changes, underneath all of it, is where your people spend their time. The routine runs in the background, and the institutional knowledge stops living in heads and starts living in a system that does not take holidays. Growth stops meaning 'hire proportionally', because volume can rise without the operational load rising with it.

Built by traders, for traders

We did not buy this. We built it for our own operation because we needed it ourselves. It runs on our terms, and it can run on yours: deployed on your own infrastructure, on open-source models hosted locally, so your data stays in your environment with no vendor lock-in and no per-query cloud costs.

If the bottleneck in your business is the work around the trade rather than the trade itself, book a call with our team and we will map where the Trading Brain moves the needle first.

Built by timber traders, for timber traders.
